Software RAID is great, especially for servers. While you can use RAID for increased speed, most people use RAID mirroring so that all data is written to two identical disks.
If one disk fails, your server stays up because the 2nd drive still works. But what happens when a drive fails?
The replacement process obviously requires your hosting company to the replace the drive.
But both before and after the physical drive replacement, you’ve got some work to do!

If you’re a Twitter user [ducks under the table], you’ve no doubt been seriously annoyed by those constantly auto-playing video posts.
What’s even crazier than the fact that the vids autoplay is that if you refresh the current page on Twitter, the same vids autoplay again, and again, and again.
Wow, that’s annoying.
If you’re thinking, “Please god, make it stop…” then read on!

Let’s say you have a folder with a ton of files, but they all have super-long file names.
For example, a folder with a bunch of video files like this:
ENG SUB【Story of Yanxi Palace 延禧攻略】EP50 Starring Wu Jinyan, Qin Lan, Nie Yuan, Charmaine Sheh.mp4
Wow, that is a CRAZY-long filename. What’s worse, it has Chinese and other weird characters in it. Those might screw up your streaming media player, for example.
Well, okay: How to bulk rename a bunch of files at once?

Razer makes some pretty nice stuff: Laptops, gaming gear, keyboards, and even some very nice webcams.
Their Kiyo Pro webcam is particular awesome.
Unfortunately, their software is nowhere near as good as their hardware.
So, you might not want Razer Synapse to install, but every time your plug in your Razer gizmo, that dang installer prompts you – EVERY SINGLE TIME.
How to make it stop?!

Windows 12 has been in the news lately.
Specifically, rumors are swirling that not only will there be a Windows 12, but it will be “AI-powered”.
Of course, this requires support preferably from Intel’s next 14th-gen processors as well as from AMD’s equivalent offerings.
That means Windows 12 will probably have even tighter hardware requirements than Windows 11, sadly…
But hang on, does anyone even use Windows anymore?!

About 2.5 years ago, I wrote an article entitled Thunderbird 78: Change is in the air, but don’t panic!.
At that time, Tbird was in a state of flux as it moved from a Mozilla project to community-driven (more or less) and then into essentially its own company.
Well, fast forward to today: In July of this year, the Thunderbird team is supposed to take the wrap off of a whole new bird dubbed ‘Supernova’.
And if the blue bird’s design manager’s video is anything to go by, it’s gonna be pretty awesome!

The Windows 11 22H2 feature release is out in the wild. Unfortunately, there are a few problems with it…
On my modern laptop, I upgraded to 22H2 and everything seemed to be going well…
Until I did a hard reboot a few hours after the upgrade was complete.
I got a Blue Screen before Windows even loaded with the message that my PC/Device needs to be repaired: The Boot Configuration Data file doesn’t contain valid information for an operating system.
Well, golly gee whiz Mr. Johnson, that’s just swell!! What to do now??
