About half of all internet surfers these days are using Google’s Chrome browser, mostly because it’s awesome.
But many folks, such as myself, still have Firefox around. Firefox is awesome because there is a huge variety of add-ons available, and it’s not yet another Google product.
The problem lately has been that Firefox has become soooo slooOOOW! Like, horribly slow. Like, locking up on me slow…
Despite my best efforts at verifying that an add-on or evil web site was the culprit, it’s still just pokey.
The good news is that this is already changing: turbocharged Firefox is already here, and you can take advantage of it right now!

On December 8th of this year, Malwarebytes version 3.0 was released.
I saw the news, and waited for the automatic upgrade since I have the paid version.
Well, today, I realized I’m still waiting… With the holidays here, I had forgotten all about it.
If you have a license, you’ll want to upgrade ASAP since the new version has some rather nice improvements.
Not to worry: It’s pretty easy!

Last month, I wrote a lovely article entitled How to remove date stamps from photos in Windows 7, 8 and 10. The trick was to use Windows Photo Gallery since it’s a pretty powerful and handy bit of photo-organizing and editing software.
Apparently, Microsoft will end support for Photo Gallery (and all of Windows Essentials 2012) on January 10, 2017. That’s in a few short weeks!
Fear not though, because it’s still available for download now from MS’s site. And even after January 10th, you can download the full version below!

Seven years ago, I wrote a post entitled How to Easily Print a Large Image to Multiple Pages in Windows. This post has been one of the most popular articles on this site for quite some time now.
Like me, you were probably surprised that Windows could do this – hardly anyone knew about it!
Fast forward to today, and a reader recently asked me if I knew of a way to remove a date stamp from a photo. I said no, but then I discovered a feature sitting right in front of my nose this whole time.
It turns out that you can easily remove a date stamp from a photo on your puter – no Photoshop required!

Five months ago, I answered the question Is the Adobe Flash Player really dead?
The answer was: No!
Fast forward to today, and I’m afraid it’s time to part ways, especially if you’re using Firefox.
And if you’re using Chrome, you have a bit less choice in the matter, anyway. Starting next month, Chrome will no longer support Flash by default.
So, do you really still need Flash? And if not, how do you remove it?

There is a new standard that was ratified a few months ago that defines 2.5 and 5 Gbps ethernet.

Everybody wants their Windows puter to start up faster.
We all know how painful it is to wait around for days while Windows reboots after applying updates, for example.
Of course, the #1 way to make your whole puter faster is to upgrade to an SSD.
But even with a super-fast SSD, Windows can still start to boot more slowly over time. Why? Startup programs!
So, how do you quickly and easily disable crap that runs at startup?

In the olden days, the only way to run OS X (now called macOS) on a non-Apple puter was to hack it. In those days, this was a big no-no.
Fast-forward to today, and things have changed.
Well, sort of.
It still may not be entirely legal to run macOS on your PC, but suddenly it’s very easy to set up. It’s also interesting that despite the very public guides on how to do this, Apple doesn’t seem to care.
So, how do you run a virtual Mac on your Windows or Linux PC?

There’s a cool new feature in Windows 10 called Spotlight. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work much of the time.
Spotlight is an option for your Lock Screen where Windows will download new wallpapers in the background, and then show you a different purty image each time you go to unlock your puter.
It’s a very nifty feature, especially since the images are very nice.
But as I said, it doesn’t work at all much of the time.
Fortunately, there are two different ways you can fix this problem – without even needing Spotlight to work correctly!

Aside from all the hoopla about Windows 10 invading your privacy and sending your entire hard drive to Microsoft’s servers, there is another obvious question to ask: Is Win 10 gobbling up all of your internet connection’s bandwidth?
The answer may be yes, especially if you have a slower net connection.
I’m talking about the “Choose how updates are installed” option in Win 10. I did cover this in my post Protect your privacy in Windows 10, but I’m not sure it’s so obvious to everyone what this, “how updates are installed” option means in practical terms.
