The problem comes when KeePass informs you that there’s an update available for the KeePassOTP plugin…
How do you update it?!
Easy: You just repeat the installation procedure that I outlined in the above article.
But… There’s a better way!! Of course.
Back in November of 2020, I wrote an article entitled Two-Factor Authentication without SMS or a smartphone.
In those days, 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) wasn’t terribly popular. Today, it’s everywhere!
I also recommended using Authy for Windows, which is a desktop version of the popular smartphone 2FA app.
So, problem solved, right? NO! Authy just announced they’re canceling their desktop Windows app. 🙁

These days, 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) is all the rage.
Instead of securing your account with only a password, you have to enter a password and a secret code… But where to get this code?
The simple way is via an SMS to your phone, which means you also must provide your cell phone number to various sites.
Smartphones also have authentication apps, but the problem is that you must still have your smartphone on and connected to the cell network in order to log in to a simple web site!
That’s not very convenient…
