Malwarebytes 3: You might need to manually upgrade

On December 8th of this year, Malwarebytes version 3.0 was released.

I saw the news, and waited for the automatic upgrade since I have the paid version.

Well, today, I realized I’m still waiting… With the holidays here, I had forgotten all about it.

If you have a license, you’ll want to upgrade ASAP since the new version has some rather nice improvements.

Not to worry: It’s pretty easy!

Windows 10: Can’t uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials? No problem!

Microsoft Security Essentials vs Windows DefenderYou upgrade to Windows 10. All seems to be going well.

There’s only one problem: Every time you reboot, you get an error message about Microsoft Security Essentials.

“No problem!” you think. I’ll just uninstall it. Nope!

Worse yet, Windows 10 is very confused, since Windows Defender is basically the same program. Defender won’t run, and neither will Security Essentials.

What to do? Read on!

The Best Antivirus and Anti-Malware protection for Windows in 2015

Malware Bad!If you have Windows, you probably have some kind of anti-virus or anti-malware software installed.

If you purchased your computer instead of building it yourself, your system will most likely have come pre-installed with McAfee or some other product.

Well, everybody has their opinions on the question of security. Some people prefer Kaspersky, some love Norton, others swear by Avast. I don’t know anyone who swears by McAfee…

I’ve used all of these over the years, and I’ve managed quite a few computers in my day.

So, what’s the best antivirus and anti-malware software out there?

Fix Malwarebytes Anti-Malware on the Windows 10 Technical Preview

MBAM + Win 10 = OopsFor those of you who are test-driving the Windows 10 Technical Preview, you may have noticed that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware stopped working.

It won’t launch at start-up, and if you try to manually run it, you get some weird error about some memory location, blah-blah-blah, or something similar. Basically, it craps out on you.

If you try to uninstall Malwarebytes, you get the same error. If you try to install the same version – or even a newer version – you still get the same error.

Well, Malwarebytes released a newer version recently that is being sent out to users at the moment, and it addresses this problem. But autoupdating won’t work if MBAM won’t run!

So, how do you fix it?
